About Great Plains Country
Great Plains Country is Oklahoma's official tourism region for the short-grass prairie and granite mountains of the state's southwest corner, covering towns including Duncan, Lawton, Frederick, and Hobart. Duncan's Chisholm Trail Heritage Center and Hobart's General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum cover the area's cattle-drive and military history, while Chickasha adds its own visitor attractions. Just across the Red River in Texas, Wichita Falls contributes the River Bend Nature Center. The listed venues are largely museums, heritage centers, and a nature center spread across small prairie towns.
