Abraham Hall Historic Site

A restored 1889 lodge in the Rossville community that once served an African-American benevolent society.

About Abraham Hall Historic Site

Built in 1889, this lodge in the Rossville community is one of the strongest surviving examples of an African-American benevolent society meeting hall in Prince George's County. It was the first African American historic site in the county restored with public money, and it was renovated and rededicated in 2008. The building now houses the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Black History Program, which runs educational programs and archives on local African-American heritage. Outdoor interpretive signs on the grounds can be viewed from dawn until dusk.
