About Agate Falls Scenic Site

Agate Falls is a broad band of cascades nearly 40 feet high on the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River, where the water crosses a shelf of hard sandstone. Park at the roadside rest area on M-28, about 7 miles southeast of Bruce Crossing, where there are vault toilets and a picnic area. A half-mile trail runs through a tunnel under the highway to an observation platform, and an old railroad trestle crosses above the falls. Trails stay open in winter but are not cleared of snow or ice.
