Bayou Segnette State Park sits in Westwego on the west bank of the Mississippi, a short drive from New Orleans, with access to both swamp and salt marsh. Its boat launch opens onto fresh and saltwater fishing, and alligators, armadillos, mink and bald eagles live in the surrounding wetlands. A 2.8-mile nature trail winds through the park, and you can stay in one of 16 cabins or at 98 campsites with water and power. Entry is $3 per person, and seniors 62 and up and children 3 and under get in free. The wave pool is closed until further notice.
