About Black Mesa State Park
Black Mesa State Park sits in the Oklahoma panhandle near the tri-state border with Colorado and New Mexico. The park lies about 15 miles from the nature preserve that protects Black Mesa, the state's highest point. Campers can use RV sites with hookups, tent sites, picnic areas, boat ramps, a playground, and restrooms with showers. The nearby preserve covers roughly 1,600 acres of hiking terrain where the Rocky Mountains meet shortgrass prairie. Visitors can see many birds and mammals, and the dark skies draw stargazers, especially during the August Perseid meteor shower.
