Boiling Springs State Park is one of Oklahoma's seven original state parks, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s about 6 miles northeast of Woodward. Its namesake spring bubbles up through sand so it looks like it is boiling, though the water is cool; you can see it from a wooden shelter below the park office. The 820 acres hold the 7-acre spring-fed Shaul Lake, five easy trails, cabins, RV and tent sites and more than 150 picnic tables. An 18-hole golf course sits next door.
