About Black Rock State Park

Black Rock State Park sits in the rolling hills of Connecticut's Western Highlands in Watertown. Its wooded ledges wrap around Black Rock Pond, and a rocky cliff gives views over Thomaston, Watertown, and Waterbury. Visitors can swim, fish for trout and bass, picnic by the water, hike loop and pond trails, or stay overnight at the campground, which has tent sites and rustic cabins. The park's name comes from local legend and from mining history, and it was given to the state in 1926 by a conservation group.
