A Connecticut state park centered on a man-made pond, known for its beach, paddling, fishing, loop trails, and historic milk factory site.
384 Burr Mountain Road Torrington, CT 06790 · Torrington, CT
Burr Pond State Park sits in Torrington and surrounds a pond that was created by people rather than nature. Visitors can spend a day on the sandy beach, paddle a canoe or kayak across the water, or try fishing from shore or by ice in winter. A 2.5-mile loop trail follows the pond's edge and includes a lookout onto the water. The park also marks the site where a pioneering condensed milk factory operated in the 1850s, and a bronze tablet still identifies the original location. The park is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and is adjacent to Paugnut State Forest.
