Dennis Hill State Park sits on a former private estate in Norfolk. Visitors can hike to the summit, which rises about 1,627 feet, or drive a road to the top during open season. On clear days the view reaches distant peaks in several states. The summit pavilion once served as a summer home and later as a World War II lookout, and it now works well for picnics. The park also draws geology fans, since its rocks are among the oldest in Connecticut and its hill is an ancient volcano that drains into three watersheds.
