About Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway

Caprock Canyons covers about 17,500 acres of red rock canyons on the edge of the Llano Estacado in the Texas Panhandle. The official Texas State Bison Herd, descended from animals saved by rancher Charles Goodnight, roams freely through the park, so keep your distance. Nearly 90 miles of trails range from easy to very hard, and the rail-trail passes the Clarity Tunnel, home to Mexican free-tailed bats from late April to mid-October. Lake Theo has swimming and fishing. Adults pay $5 a day; reserve ahead in busy seasons.
