About Custom House Maritime Museum

Run by the New London Maritime Society, a nonprofit, this museum occupies the former U.S. Custom House on Bank Street. Its exhibits cover the city's seafaring history, including a permanent exhibition on the Amistad events of 1839 and displays of vintage dive helmets. The society also oversees lighthouses on Long Island Sound and hosts programs such as lectures, a monthly open mic, and excursions. Visitors can browse a gift shop with maritime books and lighthouse-themed items.
