Elmore State Park sits between 219-acre Lake Elmore and 2,608-foot Elmore Mountain, and began in 1936 when the town gave the state 30 acres of lakeshore. The beach has a swimming area, and the beach house rents canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and stand-up paddleboards. Two trails climb to a fire tower on the summit with views in every direction. Day use is $5 for adults and $2 for children 4 to 13. The campground has 44 tent and RV sites and 15 lean-tos, and some park facilities date from the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
