This North Dakota state park sits on bluffs above the northern side of Lake Sakakawea, a short drive south of Garrison. Visitors can hike or bike through its trail network, which winds past prairie, woodland, and shoreline. Two marinas offer boat access, slips, and fish cleaning, and the park rents boats, paddle craft, bikes, and winter gear. Its name honors a nineteenth-century Missouri River fort that once supplied other military posts, and a park museum and a June military-themed event recall that history. Cabins and campsites are also available.
