The Commons is a large natural preserve kept mostly undeveloped. Thread Creek flows through it, a bridge helps visitors cross, and many trails wind through the grounds. Bird-watching groups and other nature gatherings often meet here. Eagle Scout projects have groomed trails, cleared creek banks, and added benches and bird and bat houses. The land was a family farm for generations before residents raised funds to buy it in the early 1980s, and it is now kept as a passive park.
