The Harding Memorial in Marion is the tomb of Warren G. Harding, the 29th president, and First Lady Florence Kling Harding, and the last of the grand presidential tombs. Built in 1926 and 1927 as a circular Greek temple, it is 103 feet across with 28-foot columns of Georgia white marble and no roof, as the Hardings wished to be buried outdoors. About $978,000 came from more than a million donors, including some 200,000 schoolchildren. Allow about 20 minutes; the Harding Home is 1.5 miles away.
