About Hollywood Cemetery

Founded in 1847, this private nonprofit cemetery in Richmond remains in active use. Its 135 acres of rolling terrain and mature trees sit along the James River. The grounds were laid out in a garden style meant to break from the rigid grid of city burial grounds, and the landscape has been recognized as an arboretum. Visitors can tour the grounds on their own, join virtual or group tours, and learn about the cemetery's burial history and the notable people interred there.
