White House of the Confederacy

Richmond house that served as the Confederate executive residence of Jefferson Davis, now one of three sites run by the American Civil War Museum.

About White House of the Confederacy

The house in Richmond's Court End neighborhood was built in 1818 and served as the main home and office of Jefferson Davis, the only president of the Confederate States, from August 1861 until April 1865. It now stands on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. The American Civil War Museum lists the house as one of its three locations, alongside its Historic Tredegar site in Richmond and its Appomattox site. Visitors can buy tickets through the museum and may use a multi-site pass for discounted admission across its locations, redeemable in person.
