Jackson Park covers 551 acres of lakefront on Chicago's South Side, laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and rebuilt in 1893 for the World's Columbian Exposition. Mementos of the fair remain, including a one-third-size Statue of The Republic and the Museum of Science and Industry. Wooded Island in the lagoon holds a Japanese garden. The park also has the 57th Street and 63rd Street beaches, three harbors and an 18-hole golf course. It is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm.
