This park preserves the ground where Sherman's and Johnston's armies fought in June 1864 during the Atlanta Campaign. Start at the visitor center, where a 35-minute film sets up the battle and a museum shows authentic uniforms, weapons and flags. From there you can follow a four-stop driving tour, walk more than 25 miles of trails, or climb about 1.1 miles by trail to the 1,808-foot summit. Cheatham Hill, known as the Dead Angle, is one of three battlefield areas.
