Lake Ahquabi State Park sits in south-central Iowa and centers on a lake of about 115 acres. Visitors can hike or bike more than six miles of trails, swim at the designated beach, and rent paddleboats, canoes, and kayaks. Anglers come for largemouth bass, channel catfish, and panfish from the shore, a pier, or jetties. The lakeshore campground has full hook-up and electric sites with modern restrooms and showers. Several buildings date to the 1930s and were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and three park sections are on the National Register of Historic Places.
