Stroll Olmsted's bluff-top park above Lake Michigan, cross the 1890s lion bridges over the ravines and climb the North Point Lighthouse on a weekend afternoon.
2975 N. Lake Park Road, Milwaukee, WI 53211 · Milwaukee, WI
Lake Park stretches about a mile along a bluff above Lake Michigan on Milwaukee's East Side, and is the city park that most closely keeps Frederick Law Olmsted's 1890s design. Paths wind through wooded ravines crossed by old bridges, including the two Lion Bridges from 1896 and 1897, and past the last Native American mound left in the city. The 74-foot North Point Lighthouse stands inside the park and opens for visits on weekend afternoons. There is also a golf course, tennis courts, a stretch of the Oak Leaf Trail and a restaurant in the 1903 pavilion. Park in the county lot off Newberry Boulevard.
