About Boerner Botanical Gardens

Boerner Botanical Gardens sits inside Whitnall Park in Hales Corners, a village in Milwaukee County. Alfred Boerner designed the original five formal gardens, and the Annual, Perennial, Rock, Rose, and Peony Gardens were built during the 1930s. Later additions include trial, herb, lily, and shrub rose gardens, plus the Bog Walk. The Gardens are owned and managed by Milwaukee County, while the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, a nonprofit, supports the site through education programs, events, guided walks, and donor-funded areas such as Margie's Garden, a children's garden.
