A long lakefront park on Chicago's North Side that holds a zoo, a conservatory, museums, beaches, and nature areas.
500-5700 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60614 · Chicago, IL
This lakeshore park runs north from Streeterville to Edgewater along Lake Michigan. Its older southern section holds the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Chicago History Museum, and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, along with a rowing canal, a historic lily pool, and the North Pond nature sanctuary. Farther north the park is more open, with beaches, playing fields, dune natural areas, bird sanctuaries, harbors, and playgrounds. Many statues and monuments stand throughout, including a large figure of Ulysses S. Grant and a well-known statue of Abraham Lincoln. The park was named for the president after his assassination and has grown over the decades from a former burial ground into one of the city's largest public spaces.
