Little Ocmulgee State Park sits about two miles north of McRae-Helena on the Little Ocmulgee River, in the sand hills and pine woods of South Georgia. The park is known for its fine white sand, which makes a beach along its lake. Visitors can stay in the lodge, in lakeside cabins, or at campsites for tents and RVs. The Wallace Adams Memorial Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course with a pro shop. Other activities include swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking the Oak Ridge Trail, which winds through native plants and wildlife habitat. Part of the park was first developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression.
