A statewide monument in Beacon Hill honoring Massachusetts firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
Boston, MA
The memorial, dedicated in 2007, sits at the State Capitol and honors firefighters from across Massachusetts. Its centerpiece is a large bronze statue of three firefighters in a search and rescue pose, set on a marble Maltese cross and encircled by a Ring of Honor that departments, associations, and families can purchase to remember fallen members. A volunteer board representing the fire community oversees the memorial, and each September 11 a ceremony honors firefighters and unveils the names added during the year. The nonprofit was founded in 2000 to create this statewide tribute.
