The Navajo Zoo sits in a tribal park in Window Rock, Arizona, the capital of the Navajo Nation, and is described by its operators as the only Native American owned-and-operated zoo in the United States. It houses more than 100 animals across roughly 50 species, including wolves, black bears, and golden eagles, many taken in as injured or orphaned wildlife. A Golden Eagle Sanctuary and Education Center opened on the grounds in 2016. The zoo draws about 50,000 visitors a year and is open Monday through Saturday.
