El Morro National Monument
El Morro National Monument is a sightseeing stop in Ramah, NM. Cost: free. Parts of the trails, including all of the Headland Trail, may be closed in winter because of ice and snow.

Why you should go…
El Morro is a sandstone bluff with a pool at its base that made it a resting place for travelers for centuries. Along the Inscription Loop you read what they carved: Ancestral Puebloan petroglyphs, Spanish inscriptions including one left by Juan de Oñate in 1605, and the names of American pioneers and soldiers. The Headland Trail climbs to the mesa top and Atsinna, an ancestral pueblo built around 1275. The monument is also a certified International Dark Sky Park.
