The New Jersey Maritime Museum sits in Beach Haven at the southern tip of Long Beach Island. Its website says it holds the largest maritime history and artifact collection in New Jersey. The museum concentrates on shipwrecks off the state's coast and the artifacts recovered from them, along with scuba diving and its community, notable maritime incidents in state waters, and the history of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and the Coast Guard that followed it. It opened to the public in 2007. The museum also runs a summer kids program and hosts fundraisers and presentations.
