Founded in 1891, the New York Botanical Garden spreads across 250 acres of the Bronx with more than one million living plants. The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, a Victorian-era glasshouse by Lord & Burnham completed in 1902, anchors the grounds. You can also walk the Thain Family Forest, 50 acres of never-logged woodland that is the largest remnant of the forest that once covered New York City. The garden is a National Historic Landmark.
