Niagara Falls State Park was set aside as the Niagara Reservation in 1885 and is billed as America's oldest state park. It takes in the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and part of the Horseshoe Falls, with Goat Island in the middle of the river. From Prospect Point you can walk out on the observation tower over the gorge or board the Maid of the Mist, and Cave of the Winds takes you 175 feet down to a deck beside the water. The park is open 24 hours a day all year; parking in the park lots costs $10 to $15 a day.
