Overture Center opened in 2004 on State Street, a few blocks from the Wisconsin Capitol, in a building designed by Cesar Pelli. It hosts more than 200 performances, exhibitions and events a year. The 2,251-seat Overture Hall is home to the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Opera and Madison Ballet, and the restored 1928 Capitol Theater seats about 1,089. Four art galleries are free and open to the public. State Street is closed to cars, so allow time to walk from the nearby parking ramps.
