Sampson State Park covers 2,070 acres on the east shore of Seneca Lake, on the grounds of the Sampson Naval Training Station of World War II, later Sampson Air Force Base during the Korean War. Most base buildings are gone, but the old brig now holds a military museum run by volunteer veterans. Today the park has a large campground with 243 electric sites, cottages, a sandy swimming beach and a marina with 96 boat slips and a launch. Some 38 miles of old base roads and trails wind through the woods.
