About Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site

People have lived around this West Texas canyon for about 10,000 years, and its rock shelters hold pictographs painted 2,000 to 8,000 years ago. The Fate Bell Shelter tour, a fairly rugged guided hike, runs Wednesday through Sunday and costs $8 for ages 13 and up on top of the $4 park entrance fee; reservations are required. You may enter the canyon only with a guide, but almost 10 miles of rim trails to the Rio Grande are open on your own. The park has 46 campsites and sits next to Amistad National Recreation Area.
