South Beach is the part of Miami Beach south of Dade Boulevard, known for its Art Deco and Streamline Moderne architecture from the 1930s. Lummus Park runs along Ocean Drive from 5th Street to 14th Place, with beach access, paved paths, 18 sand volleyball courts and an outdoor gym called Muscle Beach at 9th Street. Lincoln Road is an open-air pedestrian mall for shopping. The Miami Beach Architectural District was designated in 1979.
