About Stone State Park

Stone State Park sits on the northwestern edge of Sioux City, in the Loess Hills near the Big Sioux River. Its bluffs and ravines hold prairie plants, bur oak woods, and wildlife such as deer and wild turkey. Visitors hike, bike, ride horses, or ski in winter, and can stay in camping cabins or at the campground. Many structures date to the 1930s, when Civilian Conservation Corps workers built them. The nearby Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center offers exhibits and a children's discovery area.
