The Barnacle is the oldest house in Miami-Dade County still on its original site, built in 1891 by yacht designer Ralph Munroe, a founder of Coconut Grove. The five-acre park keeps a strip of tropical hardwood hammock, a boathouse and a lawn running down to Biscayne Bay, where a replica of Munroe's sailboat Egret is moored. Entry on foot or by bike is $2, and guided house tours cost $3 extra. There is no parking lot, so use neighborhood meters or the bus.
