About Vander Veer Botanical Park

Vander Veer is a 33-acre botanical park in central Davenport, set up in 1885 on the old Scott County fairgrounds and modeled on New York's Central Park. It was first called Central Park and took its current name in 1912. The conservatory changes its floral shows every few weeks, and outdoor gardens, fountains and a music pavilion surround it. The city's horticulture team keeps the grounds, with help from the nonprofit Friends of Vander Veer, which runs classes and events.
