The Figge sits on the Mississippi riverfront in downtown Davenport, in a glass building by British architect David Chipperfield that opened in 2005. Its roots go back to 1925, when former mayor Charles Ficke gave 334 works to start a city art gallery. The collection is strong in Midwestern Regionalist, Haitian and Mexican colonial art, and the museum holds Grant Wood's estate, including the only self-portrait he painted. Since 2025 it also has a permanent digital installation by teamLab.
