About Washington Park

Washington Park is a Park Slope city park built around the Old Stone House, a reconstruction of a farmhouse first built in 1699. On August 27, 1776, during the Battle of Long Island, the Maryland 400 fought British troops who had taken the house. Inside, an exhibit covers the battle and life in Brooklyn from 1776 to 1783, with a suggested donation of $3. Around it are native-plant gardens, a playground, a skatepark and a dog run, plus a Sunday farmers market. Take the R to Union Street or the F to 4th Avenue.
