Red Hook Recreation Area is a 58.5-acre NYC Parks property spread over several blocks around Bay Street in Brooklyn's Red Hook. Its centerpiece is the Sol Goldman Pool, built by the Works Progress Administration in 1935 and 1936 and now a city landmark, with a 330-by-130-foot main pool and a wading pool. Around it are soccer and softball fields, handball courts and a running track, several of them rebuilt in phases since 2019. NYC outdoor pools are free; bring a sturdy combination lock for the lockers.
