Waveny Park centers on Waveny House, a 1912 mansion built for Texaco co-founder Lewis Lapham, with grounds first laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. The Lapham family passed the estate to the Town of New Canaan in 1967, and it is now a public park with 3.5 miles of woodland trails, open lawns, meadows, the restored Anderson Pond and formal gardens by the house. Leashed dogs are welcome; it is a carry-in, carry-out park.
