Scenic Long Island Sound peninsula park with trails, gardens, fishing, and Revolutionary-era history.
25 Lloyd Harbor Road, Huntington, NY 11743 · Huntington, NY
Set on a peninsula reaching into Long Island Sound, this state park combines woodland, meadows, rocky shoreline, and salt marsh. Visitors can ride, walk, bike, ski, and explore nature trails, and the grounds include gardens and permitted fishing and diving. The land was once a Gold Coast estate assembled in the early 1920s, and during the Revolution the Lloyd Neck area hosted a large Loyalist fort that was attacked by a joint Patriot and French force in 1781.
