About Spring Mill State Park

Spring Mill State Park covers about 1,358 acres near Mitchell and was established in 1927. Cave-fed springs once powered an early industrial village, and the park now interprets how that water and landscape shaped the region. Visitors can explore the restored Pioneer Village, a limestone gristmill, the Grissom Memorial honoring the Indiana-born astronaut, and the Lakeview Activity Center. Hiking and mountain biking trails, a lakeside setting, a historic inn, and a campground round out the visit. Selected caves are open to registered groups, and a boat tour runs through a cave stream.
