About Zachary Taylor National Cemetery

This 16-acre national cemetery grew from the half-acre Taylor family burial ground and was set up by Congress in 1928. President Zachary Taylor, the 12th president, was buried here in 1850 and now rests with his wife in a limestone mausoleum. Nearby stands an 1883 granite shaft topped by a life-size statue of Taylor, and his parents' graves are close by. The cemetery holds more than 14,000 graves of veterans and their families. The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset.
