Formerly the Adirondack Museum, the Adirondack Experience spreads more than 20 buildings across about 121 acres above Blue Mountain Lake, on the site of an 1876 resort hotel. You can row a traditional guideboat, try breaking up a logjam, climb a fire tower or hike to Minnow Pond, and the 2017 Life in the Adirondacks exhibit covers how people have lived in the mountains. Plan on at least four hours. Adult tickets cost $22 to $24, and the café deck looks out over the lake.
