About Art Museum of the Americas

Run by the Organization of American States, this small museum opened in 1976 and calls itself the first museum of modern and contemporary Latin American and Caribbean art in the United States. It sits in a Spanish Colonial-style building that was once the residence of the OAS Secretary General, a half block from Constitution Avenue. The collection of about 2,000 works covers painting, sculpture, prints and photography, shown in changing exhibitions. Entry is free; restrooms are up a winding stair on the second floor.
