Maryland's state museum of African American history and culture, housed in a former church in Annapolis.
84 Franklin Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 · Annapolis, MD
The state's official museum for African American heritage documents, interprets, and promotes that history, with a focus on Maryland, through exhibitions, programs, and projects. It is run by the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture. Admission is free, and visitors can explore self-guided, since guided tours were unavailable at the time of the page. The museum occupies a former African Methodist Episcopal church on Franklin Street. In 2024 it was renamed to honor Harriet Tubman, and its current exhibition, She Speaks, features Black women artists.
