Washington, DC
Battery Kemble sits on high ground in Northwest Washington and was one of the forts guarding the capital during the Civil War. Its parapet and gun positions remain fairly intact and are easy to see. The park is part of the Civil War Defenses of Washington and sits near the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail and Rock Creek Park. Visitors can find picnic tables, parking, a trailhead, and interpretive signs, and the battery offers a scenic spot for photos.
