The American University Museum opened in 2005 inside the Katzen Arts Center and fills three levels, about 44,000 square feet, plus a sculpture garden. It runs changing exhibitions of contemporary and Washington-area art and keeps the Corcoran Legacy Collection, more than 9,000 works from the former Corcoran Gallery, along with the Watkins and Katzen collections. The Tenleytown-AU Metro station is the closest stop, and the Katzen garage charges $2 an hour. Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside.
