Beartown sits on the high eastern end of Droop Mountain in northern Greenbrier County, with a small slice reaching into Pocahontas County. The park protects roughly 110 acres of rock formations. Visitors wander along marked paths and boardwalks past towering stone blocks, overhanging ledges, and narrow cracks in the ground. Informational markers describe the natural forces that shaped the landscape. The park keeps development light so its scenery stays largely untouched. Its name comes from local belief that the cave-like openings in the rocks served as winter dens for black bears.
